The University of Rochester’s Center for Science Education and Outreach serves to utilize the unique resources of the University of Rochester's scientists and facilities to develop and implement innovative science education and community outreach programs. Our programs serve students, teachers, and the general public.

Faculty members of the Center for Science Education and Outreach have expertise in basic science research, educational research, and public policy. Our science education and outreach programs also incorporate the talents of graduate students and faculty from departments throughout the University of Rochester as well as from other local institutions.

The Center for Science Education and Outreach is located at the University of Rochester Medical Center, and is administratively housed within the Department of Environmental Medicine.

Center for Science Education and Outreach programs include hands-on science initiatives for secondary school students, curriculum development and teacher professional development programs, and community-based environmental health outreach initiatives. These programs serve to increase science literacy among students, bring up-to-date science technology into classrooms, and provide science and health information to our community.

Our programs receive funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and other charitable sponsors.
